Dennis E. Blakely, 44, of rural Richland died Tuesday evening, Oct. 25, 2005, after suffering a possible heart attack while farming.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie, with the Rev. Dar Eckley officiating. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery at Richland.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Grace Family Church on Highway 78, near Ollie. A memorial for his children's college education fund has been established.

Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Blakely was born June 5, 1961, in Bloomfield, the son of Charles E. and Jane Moore Blakely. He married Connie Lynne Ruggles April 10, 1982, at First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.

Mr. Blakely grew up in the Rubio community, graduating from Pekin High School in 1979. He was a lifetime resident of the Rubio community where he farmed with his father and worked as a research technician for Bennett Agricultural Research Farm.

He was a member of the Grace Family Church, the Richland Fire Department and was an avid outdoorsman and a sports enthusiast of his children's activities.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; two sons, Brent Blakely of Packwood and Quentin Blakely of Richland; one daughter, Shelby Blakely of Richland; his parents of Richland; one brother, Dwayne Blakely of Higginsville, Mo.; and one sister, Delisa Martin of Richland.
