Leona E.C. Kroll
October 25, 2005Leona E.C. Kroll, 95, of Mediapolis, died Monday Oct. 24, 2005, at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, with the Rev. Forrest Krummel officiating. Burial will follow at the Kossuth Cemetery in Mediapolis.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30-8 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the First United Presbyterian Church at Mediapolis.
Mrs. Kroll was born March 31, 1910, in Holstein, the daughter of Richard and Evalina Sorensen Ruhser. She married Harold T. Kroll Sept. 5, 1929, at Ida Grove. He died July 5, 1989.
She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. Her pastimes included crocheting.
She was a member of the Mediapolis First United Presbyterian Church; a former 4-H leader; a former member of the Latty Church and the Ladies Aide.
Survivors include four daughters, Eunice Seaman and husband Charles of Houston, Mo., Maxine McCain and husband Alan of Sioux Falls, S. D., Shirley Allen and husband Edward of Longmont, Colo., and Betty Sisco and husband Michael of Mediapolis; two sons, Virgil Kroll and wife Patsy of Sperry and Stanley Kroll and wife Sharol of Lockridge; daughter-in-law, Sheila Kroll of Burlington; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Coale of Eldorado Springs, Mo.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger Kroll; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Henry and Clarence Ruhser; and one sister, Viola Johnson.
