R. HENNING dies at Grinnell

GRINNELL -- Ruth Elizabeth HENNING, 93, died on her birthday, Monday, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Grinnell (note: in Poweshiek Co., IA).

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, where Miss HENNING's parents are buried.

Miss HENNING was born July 27, 1897 (sic - 1894) at Norwood, Ill., the daughter of the Rev. John Lindsey and Elizabeth Jane MITCHELL HENNING. She grew up in Witt, Ill., Dexter and Montezuma, where she graduated from high school in 1917. He received a bachelor's degree from Huron College, Huron, S.D., and a master's degree from University of Illinois in 1930. She taught math, including 27 years in Minnesota, and 15 years at Mesabi Junior College at Mesabi, Va. She had lived in Grinnell since 1979 and had spent many summers with her parents in Fairfield until the time of their death, the last time in the 1950s.

She is survived by a brother, John Lindsey HENNING, Grinnell.
