MRS. P. E. HEFLIN

Jennie WILSON, only daughter of David B. and Jessie FETTER WILSON was born in Fairfield March 14, 1868 and made her home here during her entire life. After her school days she was an efficient clerk in the dry goods store of the late J. C. Thorne, until her marriage with P. E. HEFLIN on November 21, 1889. Her mother passed away when she was but a child, and since her marriage her father, now in his ninety-first year, has lived in her home. The past four years, he has been in ill health caused by a fall.

When Mrs. HEFLIN's health began to decline all that loving care, and the best efforts of skilled physicians were summoned to her aid, her room was a bower of beautiful flowers, the gift of organizations and anxious friends. As a last resort her husband and their children, Wilson R. of this city and Gail, wife of C. L. PAGE of Ottumwa accompanied her to Rochester in the hope that an operation might restore her to health, but her frail body could not respond and she passed away in the hospital at Rochester at 10:25 p.m. May 8, 1928.

The word that Mrs. HEFLIN was gone brought sadness to her relatives and host of friends, many of whom had not known of her illness. She was always full of cheer and yet ever ready to bear her part in the sorrow of others.

She was a valued member of the Presbyterian church, Order of Eastern Star and the P. E. O. Sisterhood.

The funeral services were conducted by Dr. Gilbert Voorhies at the home on May 10, at two oclock. Mrs. VanNostrand and daughter Martha sant "Abide With Me" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" accompanied by Miss Hannah VanNostrand on the piano.

The many beautiful flowers bore silent testimony of the love and esteem in which she was held, and of the sympathy for the family. Many relatives and friends from out of town attended the services. H. P. Thorne, William Wells, Irving Dunn, Vernon Dunn, E. G. Fligg and C. A. Henry served as pall bearers. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
