CHARLES HEER, RETIRED FROM BUSINESS, DIES

Charles H. HEER, 76, widely known resident of Jefferson county and former Fairfield business man, passed away Sunday at the Jefferson county hospital fter a brief illness. He had retired from active business January 1, 1946.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church with Dr. C. R. Douglass officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be taken from the Monger funeral home to the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Charles Henry HEER was widely known in the community. He was born in Glasgow, Iowa, on March 31, 1871. At the age of 12 he left the home of his late father, Fredolin HEER, and came to Fairfield to take employment in a retail store. He became associated with the clothing establishment of Harry F. Booker, and upon Mr. Booker's death, the late L. T. Gobble and Charles HEER succeeded as owners.

Mr. HEER continued active in the firm until January 1, 1946, when he retired. These years brought him an acquaintance over the entire trade area and many personal friends.

During his active life, he was prominent in civic affairs. He served as a member of the board of trustees of Parsons college, the former Congregational church, and later the Presbyterian church. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Iowa State Bank and Trust company, was a charter member of the Rotary club, and a member of B.P.O.E. 1192.

Mr. HEER is survived by his wife, Annie TAPPERT HEER, a daughter, Mrs. Harry W. PREECE, and a granddaughter, Katherine PREECE. He is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. Milton WHITNEY, Broken Bow, Nebraska, and Mrs. Charles McLERAN, Mt. Pleasant.

NOTICE OF THE APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTRIX

State of Iowa, Jefferson County, ss.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN,
That the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as executrix of the estate of Charles H. HEER deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are required to make immediate payment, and those having claims against the same will present them within legal time, duly authenticated, to the undersigned, for allowance and file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court.
