MRS. ANNA HAYES DIED IN CHICAGO.

Word was received by wire this morning of the sudden death of Mrs. Anna HAYES at Chicago. The cause of her death was not stated but it has been known by her friends in this city that she had been sick for the last two weeks.

Mrs. HAYES was one of the best known and best beloved women of Fairfield, She has lived in Fairfield for thirty years. During that time she has always had a cheerful and a kind word for all whom she met. In addition she was ever going out of her way to do kind deeds for those about her, so that today she is mourned by a host of friends in this community. She was an active and prominent member of St. Mary's Catholic church of this city.

Mrs. HAYES as born in County Clare, Ireland. Her parents were John and Bridget HAGARTY. After reaching young womanhood she was married to James HAYES. Mr. and Mrs. HAYES came with their family of three boys and a girl to Fairfield about the year 1878, the family residing in Fairfield continuously since that time. James HAYES was an employe of he C. B. & Q. railroad and eventually became roadmaster on that railroad.

For years Mrs. HAYES operated the hotel, situated just south of the "Q" depot yards in this city, known as the Hayes House. By her social and kindly disposition she drew a large patronage. In former years the Hayes House was well and favorably known abomng the employes of this division of the C. B. & Q.

Mrs. HAYES is survived by her two boys and one daughter, Albert J. HAYES, George HAYES, and Mrs. Margaret FARREL. The boys are now general contractors in the building and constrution business with headquarters at Chicago and at present are engaged on some work for the steel interests at Gary, Ind. In their bereavement the children have the consolation that in recent years they have endeavored to prove within the family circle that nothing in their opinion, was too good for their mother.

The funeral services will be held in this city Friday morning at nine o'clock at St. Mary's church, the remains arriving from Chicago on Burlington passenger No. 3 Friday morning. The interrment will be in Evergreen cemetery by the side of her son William.
