ALBERT HAYES DIED SUDDENLY IN WILMETTE

Was Well Known to Local Residents; Burial In Fairfield

Albert J. HAYES well known former Fairfield resident and an official of the C. B. and Q. railroad, died suddenly at his home in Wilmette, Ill. at 7 o'clock yesterday morning following a stroke. Mr. HAYES was at work on Saturday and about 2 o'clock Sunday morning he became ill.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at Wilmette and the body will be brought to Fairfield on No. 9 Wednesday evening. The funeral party will go from the depot to Evergreen cemetery where buial (sic) will take place.

He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Ethel ROTH of this city, and two children, Albert John, 6 and George Edward, 7 months. He also leaves a brother, George of Chicago, one sister, Mrs. Margaret FARRELL of Creston. Miss Anna HAYES of this city is a cousin.

Mr. HAYES was an official in the engineering department of the C. B. and Q. railroad. He was at one time known as the youngest superintendent on the road. He has been employed with the railroad his entire life with the exception of a few years. He worked first in Fairfield later going to Canton and Burlington. He has been inn (sic) Chicago since 1910.

HAYES BURIAL SERVICES HELD IN EVERGREEN

Many Out-of-Town Relatives Attended Rites At Grave Here

Burial services for Albert J. HAYES, who passed away suddenly at his home in Wilmette, Ill., Sunday morning, were held in Evergreen cemetery at 5 o'clock last evening.

The body arrived on No. 9 from Wilmette, where funeral services were held Wednesday morning. The funeral party went from the depot to Evergreen cemetery where short services were held from the grave with Rev. Father E. F. Gaule of the St. Mary's Catholic church in charge assisted by Father James Shelvin of Wilmette.

Pallbearers were John Liming, Ed. O.Donnell, Lyle Burns, Tom Kennedy, W. C. Harrell, Roland March, R. H. Munro and P. L. O'Neill.

Father Gaule was called to Wilmette to assist with the services here and he, in company with Father Shevlin and the family, accompanied the body to Fairfield.

Others from out-of-town who attended the rites here were: Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Dalton of Wilmette, Mr. and Mrs. James Garvin, Mrs. Peter O'Brien, Mrs. Joe Taylor, Mrs. McCallister Guy Stackmiller, W. F. Thiehaff John Falk, Harry Fritz, John Larson, Tom Burrell, Joe Wilson J. A. Haggender, Frank Cullen Will Solomon and Frank Armstrong, all of Chicago; Jack FARREL and son James, Gus Lauberfels, D. Pixley, Herbert, Reuben and Clarence Walters of Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gutherie, Mrs. Scott Wiltsey, Kathryn Newon and Anna FARRELL of Des Moines; Mrs. Margaret FARRELL, Albert and Margaret FARRELL, Mrs. Moran, Mrs. Shuby and John Doharty of Creston; Mrs. E. Denefe, Edwin Dollar, Charlie Lanstrom, Pete Hale, G. Oldams and Pete Boyle of Ottumwa and Edward ROTH of St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. HAYES returned to her home in Wilmette last night accompanied by her mother, Mrs. John ROTH of this city.
