Elda Bertelli Metz, 84, formerly of Centerville, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Elda Bertelli Metz Nursing Scholarship and left at or sent to Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville 52544.

Mrs. Metz was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Numa, the daughter of John and Maria Vieceli Bertelli. She married Thomas H. Simpson. He died in 1967. She later married Wesley Kenneth Metz. He died in 1996.

Mrs. Metz worked at and retired from Tots to Teens and worked at Country Heart Antiques and Uniques.

Mrs. Metz was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville and was the Sunday school secretary.

Survivors include two daughters, Lona and her husband Jerry Harbison of Brighton and Carol and Stan Chambers of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Sereno, Silvie, Joe, Tolio and Raymond Bertelli; and four sisters, Margheritt, Mary, Molly and Bruna.
