Anna L. Parrett, 88, formerly of rural Eldon, died Wednesday Oct. 19, 2005, in the Living Care Center of Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Batavia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Dvorak officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at noon Friday at Kremer Funeral Chaper in Batavia. Order of Eastern Star services will be at 7 p.m. today at the chapel with family to greet friends following the service until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Batavia United Methodist Church or Midwest Old Threshers in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. Parrett was born Sept. 4, 1917, in Batavia, the daughter of Stanley and M. Osa Warren Curtis. She married Donald E. Parrett May 19, 1940, near Eldon. He died May 19, 2003.

Mrs. Parrett grew up on a farm west of Batavia and graduated from Batavia High School in 1935. She and her husbnd farmed on the same farm on Ashland Road near Eldon for 55 years. Shw as a cook for the Cardinal School District for six years.

She was a life long member of the Batavia United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the United Methodist Women's Group, Twin City Chapter 258 Order of Eastern Star of Douds -- where she was on the Rainbow Girl Advisory board for many years -- Farm Bureau, 4-H leader for many years, secretary of Washington Township board of trustees, Chief Wapello Association and Wapello County Historical Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Myrintha Morton and husband Charles Betz of Mendota, Ill., and Mary Collopy of Agency; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Surber of Ottumwa; and three brothers, Donald Curtis of Columbus Junction, Raymond Curtis of Ottumwa and Max Curtis of Des Moines.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Gibb; and four brothers, Carol, Warren, Ralph and Robert Curtis.
