HARRIS RITES 2 P.M. SUNDAY

Mrs. Walter HARRIS, well known resident of Fairfield and former welfare worker, passed away late yesterday afternoon at the Jefferson county hospital where she had been a patient since Dec. 10.

Her death, which occurred at 4:10 p.m., followed an illness of four years.

Last rites will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. L. L. Weis in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Maud Alice HARRIS, 72, was born Aug. 30, 1880, at Hedrick, Ia. She was the daughter of the late C. J. and Hulda HAWK HAGAN. She was united in marriage Sept. 25, 1901, to Walter HARRIS who survives. The wedding took place in Hedrick.

A resident of Fairfield for 50 years, she was a member of the O.E.S. and the O.E.S. club. She was a member of the Methodist church.

While her husband was sheriff of Jefferson county, she served as deputy sheriff for two years, and was also engaged in social welfare work for ten years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Glen HARRIS, Des Moines; and Mrs. Lucile PETERSON of Oak Park, Illinois. She is also survived by two grandsons.
