George HAMMON, superintendent at the Fairfield Aluminum plant, was taken to the hospital by ambulance yesterday morning after suffering a heart attack at his home, 608 E. Broadway.
Reports this morning said he remains in a critical condition.

Last rites will be Monday at 9 a.m. for George H. HAMMON, Fairfield factory executive, who died Thursday afternoon after suffering a heart attack.
The services will be at the St. Mary Catholic church with the Rev. Francis Henricksen in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at the Raymond Funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
HAMMON had been in failing health for the past eight years from a heart condition. He suffered an attack at his home Wednesday morning and was taken to the hospital where he passed away abuot 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
HAMMON is a lifetime resident of Fairfield and has been associated with the industrial and social activities of the community for a number of years.
He was formerly with the Iowa Malleable Iron company for 19 years. For the past 13 years he had served as secretary and superintendent of the Fairfield Aluminum Foundry, joining the firm at the time it started.
He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic church, the Holy Name society; he was a past president of the Fairfield Manufacturers association and a past exalted ruler of Fairfield Lodge 1192, B.P.O.E.
Born in 1902
George H. HAMMON, 57, was born May 2, 1902, in Fairfield, the son of Jacob and Frances ACKERMAN HAMMON. He spent his entire life in Fairfield, attended the public schools here and attended Parsons college.
He was united in marriage Oct. 30, 1937, in Des Moines to Madeline R. LEONARD who survives.
Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Marie QUILLIAM, Mrs. Helen WHITMORE and Mrs. Irene KENDRICK, all of Seattle, Wash.; and two brothers, Richard J. HAMMON, Ottumwa; and Col. Bernard C. HAMMON, Anchorage, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James. The family home is at 608 E. Broadway. The family will welcome memorial gifts to the Heart Fund.
