DEATH CLAIMS MRS. HAMMON

Death last night claimed Mrs. Frances HAMMON, 83, life-long resident of Fairfield. She passed away about 11 p.m. at the McCleary Nursing home after an illness of several years.

Although she had been in poor health for some time her death was sudden. She died of a heart attack.

Last rites will be Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic church with Rev. Father O. F. DeCoursey in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Monger funeral home.

Mrs. Frances HAMMON was born March 23, 1867, in Fairfield, the daughter of the late Mathew and Barbara ACKERMAN. She was reared and educated in Fairfield, and married Jacob HAMMON on May 30, 1889.

Mrs. HAMMON, well known in the community, spent her entire life in Fairfield and for many years lived at 607 E. Burlington street, the family home.

Her husband, who passed away September 25, 1926, was a tailor in Fairfield for many years and operated his shop over where the Maid-Rite shop is now located on West Burlington street.

Mrs. HAMMON, whose parents were pioneer residents of Fairfield and Jefferson county, was a member of the St. Mary Catholic church.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Marie QUILLIAM, Mrs. Irene KENDRICK, Mrs. Helen WHITMORE, all of Seattle, Washington; George H. HAMMON, Fairfield; Richard J. HAMMON, Ottumwa; and Lt. Col. B. C. HAMMON who sailed for Germany on July 18 with his family.

She is also survived by two sisters: Mary ACKERMAN, Fairfield and Sister Mary Elizabeth, Ottumwa; a brother, Ben ACKERMAN, Marshalltown; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

EXECUTOR'S NOTICE
Public Notice Is Hereby Given:

That the undersigned has this day been appointed and commissioned by the District Court of Jefferson County, in the State of Iowa, Executor of the estate of Frances HAMMON, Deceased.

All persons having claims against said estate are hereby notified to file them with the Clerk of said court, clearly stated and duly sworn to, and within legal time, preparatory to their being allowed or proved, and persons owing said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned and avoid costs.

Dated at Fairfield, Iowa, this 8th day of August, 1950.
