NORTH ENGLISH--Patrick Earl HAMMES, 33, North English, died Thursday in a traffic accident three miles west of North English.
Rites will be at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church near Keota at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Robert Harness officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield at approximately 11:45 a.m.
Visitation was set for after 2 p.m. today at the Powell Funeral Home in Keota where the Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. this evening.
Patrick Earl HAMMES was born July 8, 1952, in Kirksville, Mo.
His father, Edwin C. HAMMES, resides at 206 Wilson Blvd. in Fairfield, and his mother, E. Jo JOHNSON, resides in Lawrence, Kansas.
HAMMES graduated from the Keota High School in 1970 and attended Lincoln Tech School in Des Moines. He had farmed west of North English for the past three years.
In addition to his parents HAMMES is survived by his step-mother, Vivian HAMMES, Fairfield; his step-father, Merle JOHNSON, Lawrence, Kansas; two brothers, Douglas HAMMES, Sigourney and James HAMMES, Marion; two step-brothers, Charles MOGGED, East Moline and James MOGGED, Chandler, Ariz.
Also two step-sisters, Kathleen KELLER, Oxford, and Karen MOGGED, Tempe, Ariz.; and a grandmother, Zoe BOYLE, East Moline.

NORTH ENGLISH -- A South English man was killed Thursday when he lost control of the car he was driving and struck a tractor on County Road F-67, about three miles west of North English.
Earl HAMMES, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene by Iowa County Medical Examiner Stacey Howell. Howell said HAMMES was driving east on County Road F-67 when he lost control on the icy road and struck a tractor that had turned in front of his car.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. Thursday. The driver of the tractor was not identified.
