Funeral Services Held This Afternoon from Home, Conducted by Rev. Voorhies
Mrs. J. M. HAMMER passed away Saturday evening at 9:15 oclock at the Jefferson county hospital after several weeks illness of typhoid fever. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at four oclock from the home conducted by Dr. Gilbert Voorhies. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery.
Fannie AVERILL HAMMER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. AVERILL, was born November 5, 1859, near Durand, Wis., her parents being among the pioneers of northern Wisconsin. Mrs. HAMMER taught school in Wisconsin several years when a young woman and later came to Fairfield and made her home with her sister, Mrs. W. M. BLACK for two years.
In 1887 she was married at her old home in Wisconsin to J. M. HAMMER, who survives her. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. J. C. BLEY of Chicago and one brother C. K. AVERILL of Menomonie, Wis.
Mrs. HAMMER was a member of the Congregational church and was a diligent worker in that church before it was destroyed by fire. Since that time she has been a faithful attendant at the First Presbyterian church. She has long been a member of the P. E. O. society and was an active worker in the D. A. R. organization.

Held Yesterday From Home Conducted By Dr. Gilbert Voorhies
Funeral services for Mrs. J. M. HAMMER were held yesterday afternoon at four oclock from the home conducted by Dr. Gilbert Voorhies of the First Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. L. W. Van Nostrand and Mrs. Frank Pierson, accompanied by Hannah Van Nostrand sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "Face to Face." The following men served as pall bearers: C. W. Rains, William Long, J. H. Montgomery, A. G. Gordon, H. C. Stevenson and William Wells.
Those from out of town who came to attend the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. Charles AVERILL, and Mrs. Ed Darwin of Menomonie Wis., Mrs. John BLEY of Chicago, and Mrs. Howard Terpming of Chicago, Ill.
