Mrs. HAMMONS (sic), 102, Dies

Mrs. John HAMMONS, mother of Mrs. James SIMMONS of Fairfield, died about 6 a.m. today in Jackson, Minn. (sic - Jackson, MS). A native of Jefferson County, she was 102 years of age.

Last rites are pending at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mrs. HAMMONS was born Aug. 3, 1873 at Coalport, west of Lockridge. The former Martha Alice BEDINGER, she was the daughter of Phillip and Nancy BROTHERS BEDINGER.

Mrs. HAMMONS was reared and educated in this county. She was married Sept. 29, 1897 to John HAMMONS. He died in January, 1940.

Surviving are two daughters, Bessie HAMMONS, Jackson, Miss.; and Dorothy SIMMONS, Fairfield. Also surviving are one granddaughter, one step-granddaughter, one great-granddaughter and three step great-grandsons.

Mrs. HAMMONS was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by one son, four brothers and a half-brother.

Services for Mrs. HAMMANS

Graveside services for Mrs. John HAMMANS are planned Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery.

In the event of severe weather, services will be held at the Raymond Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Bartruff will officiate.

Mrs. HAMMANS, mother of Mrs. James SIMMONS of Fairfield, died Tuesday in Jackson, Miss. A native of Jefferson County, she was 102.
