John U. (sic) HAIFLEY Taken In Death

John U. HAIFLEY, 85, well known Fairfield resident and a retired Malleable Iron company employe, passed away at 4:25 a.m. today.

He suffered a heart attack at his home about midnight and was taken to the Jefferson county hospital where he died.

The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home where last rites are pending.

John U. HAIFLEY was born Jan. 10, 1874, at Perlee, Iowa, the son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth CUNNINGHAM HAIFLEY. He was united in marriage on Jan. 17, 1923, to Estella HAFER who survives.

During his early life he served as an evangelist minister. In 1915 he was empoyed at the Malleable and he remained an employe there until his retirement in 1957. He had been in failing health the past 1½ years. The family home is at 1006 W. Stone and he was a member of the Nazarene church.

Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: John Jr., Mrs. Alva Jean DODDS, Robert A., and Charlotte HAIFLEY, all of Fairfield; and Mrs. Patricia May FINDLAY, Ainsworth. He is also survived by three children from a previous marriage, David HAIFLEY, Des Moines; Mrs. Doris SCHWERITZ, Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Daphin BUSCH, Vallecito, Calif. One daughter is deceased.

Other survivors include eight grand children and two sisters.
