When she was three years of age she moved with her parents to a farm south of Lockridge, where she spent her entire girlhood.

At an early age she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Swedish Lutheran church in New Sweden.

On March 19, 1890, she was united in marriage to William GROVE and they located in Jefferson county.
