Stricken With Heart Attack While Butchering At The Harley Ain Farm
J. A. GROVE, who lived 5½ miles east of the city, dropped dead yesterday afternoon at 2 oclock while assisting with the butchering at the Harley Ain farm. He had seemingly been in the best of health until suddenly stricken with a heart attack.
Mr. GROVE, who has been a lifelong resident of this county, would have been 47 years old on March 19 this year. He was unmarried and has been making his home on a farm with his sister, Anna, and a brother A. F. GROVE. He is survived by other brothers and sisters as follows: William GROVE of Stockport; Mrs. Hannah DAVIS, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Dr. E. G. GROVE of Boone; Mrs. Esther BRESLEY of Calome, S. D.; Elmer GROVE living southeast of the city and O. Ray GROVE of this city.
Funeral arrangements have not been made yet.

Funeral services for J. A. GROVE, who passed away Thursday afternoon, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 oclock at the home five and one-half miles east of the it city (sic) in charge of Rev. George G. Parker. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Relatives, who have arrived, are Dr. and Mrs. E. G. GROVE of Boone, Miss Emma GROVE, a niece, of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Esther BRESLEY of Calome, S. D.

From the Home East of the City In Charge of Rev. George G. Parker
Funeral services for J. A. GROVE were held yesterday afternoon at the home 5½ miles east of the city in charge of Rev. George G. Parker. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
Ray Mulkins, Paul Coleson, Harry Schneider and Fred Messer, accompanied by Mrs. H. E. Wisecarver at the piano sang, "Asleep In Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". The pall bearers were: Chester Hickenbottom, Russell Ain, Ed Pequignot, Don Humphreys, Roy Clark, Lewis Pequignot.

Joseph Arnold GROVE, son of A. G. and Christina GROVE, was born March 19th, 1881, on a farm near Lockridge, Iowa. He departed this life on February 23, 1928, at the age of 46 years, 11 months and four days.
He lived his entire life in Jefferson county with the exception of one year when he attended business college in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Mr. GROVE became a member of the Upland Church in his youth through the rite of Holy Baptism and lived his life in a quiet, earnest upright manner. He was a true friend and good neighbor who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother ,one (sic) sister Olive and one brother Charles.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Hannah DAVIS of Colorado Springs, Col., Miss Anna GROVE of this county and Mrs. L. E. GRESLEY of Colome, S. D. Also five brothers, William of Stockport, Dr. E. G. GROVE of Boone and Axel, Elmer and Ray GROVE of this county.

GROVE of all the personal property on the old GROVE farm, and now since the death of our brother, J. A. GROVE, we have concluded to move away from the farm and therefore will sell at Public Auction all the personal property which belonged to us jointly at our farm, which is the old GROVE homestead, 5 miles east and 1 miles south of Fairfield, Iowa, on--

Commencing At 10 O'clock A. M.,The sale will consist of 25 head of feeding steers, 26 head of other cattle of different sizes and ages; 5 registered cows; 8 horses and 1 colt; 7 brood sows; 4 sheep; abut 200 Chickens; 30 tons good timothy hay; silage; 300 bushels corn; 150 bushels oats; 8 loads stove wood; 2 sets of good work harness, etc.
