FORMER LOCAL DOCTOR DIES

Death came this morning at Shelbyville, Indiana, to a native of Jefferson county and former Fairfield physician.

He is Dr. Emil G. GROVE, 78, who, has been bedfast from a heart ailment since last November. Word received here this morning said he passed away at 8:00 a.m.

Dr. GROVE practiced medicine in Fairfield for 30 years before he moved to Boone, Iowa, in 1925. He went to Shelbyville in 1940 and had made his home there since.

He was among several Indiana doctors who were honored by the Indiana Medical Association in 1947 for completing fifty years of practice.

Last rites will be held in Shelbyville next Sunday, after which the body will be brought to Fairfield for services and burial.

Services here will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Monger funeral home with Dr. C. R. Douglass in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Emil G. GROVE was born near Lockridge, Iowa, on November 28, 1872, the son of the late Gustav and Mary Christina GROVE. He was educated in the Fairfield public schools and graduated from the business college that was located in Fairfield at that time.

Later he graduated from the Keokuk Medical school and began to practice here in Fairfield. After 30 years he moved to Boone, Iowa, in 1925 and in 1940 went to Shelbyville. GROVE was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Presbyterian church.

He was united in marriage on August 15, 1898, to Edna GLAZE who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Emil G. GROVE, Jr. ,Indianapolis, Indiana; a grandson, Paul; two sisters, Mrs. Hanna DAVIS, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Mrs. Otto M. KLINGER, Eaton, Colorado; and a brother, Elmer GROVE, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

REALTIVES HERE FOR FUNERAL OF DR. GROVE

Mrs. William RHYNAS, called here by the death of her uncle, Dr. E. G. GROVE, is returning today to her home in Topeka, Kansas. While here she was a guest in the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ray YEAGER, 1202 S. Main street.

Others here for the funeral were Mrs. GROVE, who accompanied her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Emil GROVE and Paul to Indianapolis en route back to her home in Shelbyville, Ind. Paul is a freshman student at Hanover state college, Hanover, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond BUTLER were also here from Ottumwa.
