FAIRFIELD -- Joseph A. GREINER, 64, of Fairfield died at 6:45 a.m. April 6, 1992, at University Hospitals in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
He was born July 23, 1927, in Harper to Elmer Charles and Nancy CAVIN GREINER. He married Treva R. PHILIPS on Aug. 26, 1946, in Fairfield.
He grew up in Richland and Glasgow and farmed north of Fairfield until moving into Fairfield in 1973. He worked at The Creamery in Keosauqua and operated a Phillips 66 service station in Fairfield. He retired after 19 years as a bus mechanic and school bus driver for the Fairfield schools.
He is survived by his wife; five sons, Ron of Missoula, Mont., Kenneth of Washington, Iowa, Steve of Fairfield, Tom of Lockridge and John of Rock Island, Ill.; nine grandchildren; his mother of Fairfield; and two sisters, Bernice NORTON and Ethel SCHUCHMAN of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to establish a mechanical scholarship.
