FAIRFIELD. -- Clarence GORMAN, 61, of 403 West Kirkwood street, died at 8:30 a.m. today at the Jefferson county hospital. He had been ill of a heart ailment more than a year.
He was born January 22, 1893, near Batavia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. GORMAN. He was married October 29, 1919, in Fairfield to Marguerite ZEIGLER, who survives. He was a veteran of World war I, a member of the First Methodist church, the Masonic lodge and the American Legion and had been custodian of the Logan grade school a number of years.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Don McGRIFFIN of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Mrs. Robert SHOEMAKER (sic - SHUMAKER) of Ottumwa; two sons, Donald of Cedar Rapids and Jack of Fairfield; Four brothers, Milton of West Branch Columbia, Roscoe and Robert of Batavia and Glenn of Fairfield, a sister, Mrs. H. C. MESSER of Williamsburg, and several grandchildren. A son Paul preceded him in death.
The service is tentatively planned for Monday afternoon at the Hoskins funeral home.

FAIRFIELD. -- Funeral rites for Clarence F. GORMAN, 61, of 403 West Kirkwood street, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home. Dr. L. L. Weis, pastor of the First Methodist church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
GORMAN's death occurred Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the Jefferson county hospital, after a long period of failing health.
