P. L. GORDON DIED SATURDAY

Former Fairfield man succumbs in Spokane Hospital

Word has been received here of the death of Preston L. GORDON of Spokane, Wash., former Fairfield resident. Mr. GORDON passed away Saturday at a Spokane hospital, following a long illness. He was preceded in death only a few weeks ago by his wife, Mrs. Preston L. GORDON who died October 30.

Mr. GORDON was engaged in the jewelry business in Fairfield for ten years. He was married to Minnie FLINSPACH on December 27, 1894. In December, 1907, they moved to Spokane, where they had made their home since.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Thomas CRAWFORD and Mrs. Amos FOOTE, both of Fairfield, and by two brothers, Robert GORDON of Mankato, Kansas, and Alex GORDON of Bennington, Neb. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services For P. L. GORDON To Be Held Friday

Funeral services for Preston L. GORDON, 72, who passed away Saturday in Spokane, Wash., will be held Friday, Dec. 13, at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home. Rev. William R. Yingling will be in charge.

Mr. GORDON was a former resident of Fairfield and at one time a jeweler in this city. He had been in poor health for over a year and seriously ill for the last month. He will be buried by the side of his wife in Evergreen cemetery. She preceded him in death on October 30, 1940.

Mr. GORDON was a brother of Mrs. Amos FOOTE and Mrs. Margaret CRAWFORD of this city, and of Robert GORDON of Mankato, Kansas and Alex GORDON of Bennington, Nebraska.

P. L. GORDON Funeral Will Be Friday Afternoon

Funeral services for the late P. L. GORDON, who died in Spokane, Wash., will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the Hoskins Funeral home. The body will arrive on No. 11, C. B. & Q. this evening.

Rev. Yingling will have charge fo (sic) the services. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

P. L. GORDON

P. L. GORDON son of Joseph and Elizabeth GORDON was born Sept. 6, 1868 in Jefferson county, Richwoods community northeast of Fairfield where he grew to manhood in the neighborhood of his birth.

Mr. GORDON and Minnie FLINSPACH were united in marriage on Dec. 27, 1894.

They resided on the GORDON farm for a year, then moving to Rockford, Ill., where he completed learning the watchmaker and jeweler trade. They returned to Fairfield where he went into the jewelry and watch repair business on the north side of the square. He operated this until a few months before they moved to Spokane, Washington in December 1905 where he continued in the jewelry business until a few months before his death on Dec. 7, 1940.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 13 at the Hoskins funeral home in charge of Rev. William R. Yingling.

Interment was in Evergreen cemetery where he was laid by the side of his wife who passed away Oct. 30, 1940.

He is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Amos FOOTE and Mrs. Margaret CRAWFORD of this city, Robert GORDON of Mankato, Kansas and Alex GORDON of Bennington, Nebraska.
