David Lafayette GLASS.

David Lafayette, son of E. T. B. and Martha GLASS, was born in Ohio June 1, 1860. the family came to Iowa, settling in Winfield, when he was a small boy. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and was united in marriage to Miss Nettie PECK Dec. 21, 1892.

Six children were born to them: Clarence, Lois, Alice, Walter, Carl, and Thelma, who with the wife survive and mourn the loss of father. He is survived by six brothers, his parents having preceded him in death. The brothers are: Prof. T. B. of Berkeley, Cal., William, also of California, Henderson of Springdale, Ark., Clarence of Des Moines, J. M. and Dr. A. W. of Monmouth, Ill.

He was converted and united with the Methodist church nine years ago. The family came to Fairfield seven years ago, and no family is held in higher esteem than he and his. Upon coming to the city he at once united with the First Methodist church which felt honored by his membership and lays a tribute of appreciation and affection at the feet of this man of God.

Genial, warm hearted, generous, always with smiling face he greeted his friends and they grew to be legion. Trusted, honored, loved, David GLASS, like his ancient namesake, sleeps with his father and by the will of God served Him in his generation. With malice toward none, with kindness toward all, in the midst of intense suffering for months preceding his death this man kept the sunshine of the sky in his heart so much that it shone out in his face. Many a man today feels the loss of a true friend. In his death, the state loses an upright citizen, the wife a true husband, the family the best of fathers, society a riteous man, and the church a sweet spirited and loyal hearted son of God. Many hearts are broken today with the family circle because David Lafayette GLASS is no more in the flesh but earth is richer because he lived in it and heaven is richer because he has entered therein.
