Mrs. Anna GILSKEY
Mrs. Anna GILSKEY, wife of the late John GILSKEY, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. P. KASKA near East Pleasant Plain June 30, 1927. She has been in ill health for more than two years past. During her long weeks of illness she had been a patient sufferer and was well prepared to meet her Maker. Anna KASOWSKI was her maiden name. She was born at Livingston, Pa., February 2, 1850. At an early age she came to Iowa with her parents the late Mr. and Mrs. P. J. KASOWSKI, settled on the farm near Germanville, where she resided until her marriage to John GILSKEY February 8, 1871. They lived on the farm south of Brighton until several years ago when they retired and moved to Fairfield. Mr. GILSKEY preceded her in death 13 years ago. Mrs. GILSKEY was a woman of high standing in the community in which she resided and her passing will be greatly missed by all.
Eleven children are left to mourn her loss: Mrs. L. P. KASKA of East Pleasant Plain, I and T. L. GILSKEY and Mrs. E. R. HALL of Chicago, A. J. and J. R. GILSKEY, Mrs. B. ZIEMKOWSKI and Mrs. Charles R. COX of Lewiston, Mont., Mrs. J. W. McDONALD of Billings, Mont., V. T. GILSKEY of Puente, Calif., and Mrs. R. C. RUMARY of Ft. Atkinson, Wis. Thirty grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church of East Pleasant Plain, July 4, 1927. Rev. Father Courtney, the pastor conducted the funeral services assisted by Rev. Father Gaffney of Mt. Pleasant, Rev. Father Riert of Davenport. After the funeral services the large funeral procession proceeded on its way to Fairfield where the remains were laid to rest beside her husband in Evergreen cemetery.
