MRS. MARY A. (sic) GILCHRIST PASSED AWAY HERE LAST EVENING

Mrs. Mary M. GILCHRIST, widow of the late Archibald GILCHRIST, died last night at 11 o'clock at her home at 300 East Adams street after a short illness, with heart trouble. She has been in very poor health for the past five months and during this time has been gradually failing.

Mrs. GILCHRIST was the daughter of David and Nancy BARR CLENDENIN and was born in West Morland Co., Penn., on June 9, 1840. In March, 1875, she came to Fairfield, where the latter part of her life has been spent. She has also resided in Greenwood, Mo. She is survived by one brother an dtwo (sic) sisters: David CLENDENIN, of Toronto, Kansas; Mrs. Lizzie FUNK, of Altuna, kansas, and Mrs. Lura FUNK of Raymore, Kansas.

At West Newton, Penn., on Nov. 6th, 1867, she was united in marriage to Archibald GILCHRIST, who passed away in this city of February 5th, 1916. No children having been born to them they took a girl to raise, Mrs. Lura McNEW, of this city, and gave her the loving care they would have given their own daughter.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church and was a woman who endeared herself to all by her many kindnesses. Her many friends will extend their sympathy to the sorrowing family at this time.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home in charge of Rev. McKibben and the body will be laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Mary M. GILCHRIST

Mrs. Mary M. GILCHRIST passed away Monday night at 11 o'clock at her home on East Adams street. Last winter Mrs. GILCHRIST had a very severe attack of asthma and pneumonia and for a time her life was despaired of but she recovered her heath again altho she never fully regained her strength but was up and about the house until Sabbath afternoon when she took a sinking spell after which she failed rapidly until the end came.

Mary CLENDENIN, daughter of David and Nancy BARR CLENDENIN was born in West Moreland Co., Penn., June 9, 1840; on Nov. 6th 1867 at West Newton: Pa., she was married to Archibald GILCHRIST who died on Feb. 5th, 1916. A few years after their marriage, tehy (sic) came west settling in Greenwood, Mo., and later, in March 1875 they came to Fairfield which has since been their home. She is survived by an adopted daughter, Mrs. Lura McNEW; also two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Lizzie FUNK, Altoona, Kan., Mrs. Lura FUNK, Raymore, Kan.; and David CLENDENIN of Toronto Kan.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church and her friends were numbered by her acquaintances.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 yesterday from the home, conducted by Rev. McKibben, and the body was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery.
