Mrs GILCHRIST is Dead.

Mrs. James W. GILCHRIST died in this city Friday. She had been an invalid for fifteen years and confined to her home all the time for two years past. Mrs. GILCHRIST's name was Jennie ECKELS, and she was born near Wheeling, W. Va., August 31st (sic - 1831). Her earlier years were spent in Ripley county, Ind., where she received her education. She was a teacher in the schools of that state and of Iowa for eighteen years. She became a resident of Fairfield in 1856, and was married here May 30th, 1866. Two members of her family survive her, Mrs. Josiah GARMOE, a sister, in this city, and George ECKELS, a brother, in Kansas. A niece, Miss Ana ECKELS who has been constant in her attention upon her invalid relative for many years, also resides here. Mrs. GILCHRIST united with the Presbyterian church of this city in 1867, and was an earnest christian woman, although ill health prevented active participation in the works of the church. Many friends who have known her in her long life in this city will regret her death and sympathize with the bereaved husband. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. W. F. Jones.
