Page EIGHT, Column 3DEATH TAKES W. D. GILBERT
W. D. GILBERT, 74, lifelong resident of Jefferson county, passed away at 6:00 a.m. today at the Jefferson county hospital where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He had been in failing health for several years and seriously ill the past two weeks.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hoskins funeral home in charge of Rev. S. P. Williamson. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
William David GILBERT was born January 27, 1872, in Jefferson county, the son of the late Thomas and Christiana COOP GILBERT. He was engaged in farming all his life and lived in the Antioch community.
Mr. GILBERT was well known throughout the entire county as well as his own community where he lived all his life. He was the oldest living member of the Jefferson county Farm Bureau at the time of his death.
Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Mre. (sic) Herbert CALHOUN, Oskaloosa; Clarence GILBERT, Burlington; Paul GILBERT, Fairfield; Mrs. Warren PECK (sic - PECH), also of Fairfield; also five grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ed FLINSPACH and Mrs. Fred FLINSPACH, both of Fairfield.
A son, Ralph, preceded his father in death on March 11, 1927.
