William GILBERT Aged and Respected Citizen Succumbs to Heart Trouble.
William GILBERT, an aged citizen of this city, died suddenly this morning about 10:30 o'clock at his home on East Washington street.
Mr. GILBERT had not been in the best of health lately but had not complained. He arose this morning as usual and was over to the blacksmith shop of which his son is proprietor. After spending some time in the shop he went out and started over to his home, the first door west of the blacksmith.
Ed. GILBERT noticed his father did not go into the house but stopped and leaned up against the side of the house. He hurried over to him and found him quite ill. When he asked if he was sick Mr. GILBERT replied only a little sick at his stomach. He was assisted into the house where he laid down on a sofa while his son hurried to a physician's office.
By the time he reached home with the physician his father was beyond all earthly aid and died in a few minutes.
Mr. GILBERT was one of the oldest citizens of the city of oldest citizens of the city (sic) and was highly respected by a large circle of friends.
He leaves to mourn his death two children, Mrs. Mollie LIBLIN and Edward GILBERT. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon. The hour has not yet been definitely decided upon.

William GILBERT passed away very suddenly in this city Monday morning about 10:15. While he had not been in rugged health much of the winter, he seemed better than usual an in excellent spirits this morning. An attack of a disease of the heart came upon him and he died before a physician could reach him. Mr. GILBERT was born in County Antrim, Ireland, July 12th, 1834, and came to this county with his parents in 1847. He was married here November 27th, 1861, to Almira MOORE, who died October 4th, 1901. Four children were born to them, two of whom are now living--Ed GILBERT and Mrs. Mary LIBLIN of this city. There were eleven children in his father's family and only five of them are now living--George in Colorado, John in Oklahoma, Mrs. Rosa PATTISON, Thomas GILBERT and Mrs. Nancy D. ANKROM in this county. Mr. GILBERT was a black smith by trade and operated shops in this city for many years. He was both industrious and thrifty and proved himself a successful business man. His honesty was undoubted, to his family he was all that husband and father should be, and he was a useful member of society. Funeral services will be held at the home this afternoon. Rev. Thos. Osborn will conduct the religious exercises and the body will be buried with the rites of Odd Fellowship, for Mr. GILBERT had been a member of Jefferson lodge and Iowa encampment for many years.
