DEATH CLAIMS C. P. GILBERT

Clarence P. GILBERT, long-time resident of Jefferson county, passed away at 11:43 p.m. Thursday at the Sunnyslope Sanitarium in Ottumwa where he had been a patient for the past two weeks (note: in Wapello Co., IA).

Last rites will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Rev. S. P. Wiliamson in charge. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. GILBERT was born November 26, 1909, the son of William D. and May STANLEY GILBERT. He was a member of the Christian church in Burlington.

He is survived by his former wife, Ila, and a daughter, Beverly, who reside in Burlington. Mr. GILBERT is also survived by his mother, Mrs. W. D. GILBERT, Fairfield; a brother, Paul GILBERT, Fairfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Herbert CALHOUN, Oskaloosa, and Mrs. Warren PECH, Fairfield.

Note: Buried in Lot 3rd.108. His former (second) wife was Ila Myrth HALE, who subsequently remarried twice, died in 1992, and is buried in Lee Co., IA, with her second husband. He was previously married to and divorced from Dorothy STONER, who subsequently remarried twice, died in 1979, and is buried with her third husband Kenneth NELSON, also in Evergreen Cemetery.
