Mrs. GILBERT Rites Friday

Mrs. John GILBERT, 98, 103 E. Madison, died Monday at 11:45 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua where she had resided for the past two years (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Mrs. GILBERT was a native of Jefferson County and a resident of Fairfield for 34 years. Last rites will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with Dr. John R. Dilley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The former Anna Duncan SCHAFER, Mrs. GILBERT was born Jan. 31, 1876 in Penn Township, the daughter of John W. and Mary FOX SCHAFER. She was married to John L. GILBERT March 16, 1898. He died Dec. 29, 1936. One daughter also preceded her in death.

Mrs. GILBERT was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ralph BROWN, Fairfield; one son, John GILBERT, Des Moines; and three grandchildren.

Also surviving are a half-brother, Walter SCHAFER, Fairfield; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Gladys HICKS, Fairfield, and Mrs. J.L. ROBERTS of Oregon.

The family will appreciate memorials to the First United Presbyterian Church, Antioch Church or the Good Samaritan Center.
