LOCAL WOMAN PASSED AWAY LAST EVENING

Mrs. Lewis J. GIEFER Died Following Stroke; Funeral Monday

Mrs. Amelia GIEFER, wife of Lewis J. GIEFER, passed away at her home 305 East Burlington street, at 9:45 o'clock last evening, the result of a stroke which she suffered, Wednesday. She had been in poor health for the past six mxonths.

Funeral services will probably be held Monday. Arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of relatives from a distance.. The body was taken to the Hoskins Funeral Home.

The GIEFER family moved to Fairfield from Elpaso, Tex., two years ago. Mrs. GIEFER was 58 years of age. She was preceded in death by two children, Dora and Edward. Besides hers husband (sic) she is survive by the following children (sic): Frank of Oskaloosa, Mrs. H. B. PATTON of this city, Mrs. O. WHITE and Fred of San Benito, Tex.; Mrs. R. H. WATERBURY of Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. George MUSBURGER of Osceola and Robert, Amelia, Rosella and Virginia at home.

GIEFER RITES

Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis J. GIEFER, who passed away Friday evening at her home, 305 East Burlington street, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Hoskins Funeral Home. Dr. W. F. Rex of the Lutheran church officiated. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery.

Two children, Mrs. O. WHITE and Fred GIEFER arrived Sunday from San Benito, Tex. being called here by their mother's serious illness and death.

MANY ATTEND GIEFER RITES

Dr. W. F. Rex Officiated At Services Yesterday Morning

Many relatives and friends attended the funeral services for Mrs. L. J. GIEFER, who passed away at her home 305 East Burlington street at 9:45 o'clock Friday evening held at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the Hoskins Funeral Home.

Dr. W. F. Rex, pastor of the Englih (sic) Lutheran church, officiated. The music was furnished by Mrs. Glenn Bates and Mrs. William Neibert who sang "Going Down the Valley" and "Beautiful Isle of Soemwhere (sic)."

Pallbearers were son-in-laws R. H. WATERBURY, H. B. PATTON G. H. MUSBURGER and O. A. WHITE. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Amelia Katherine GIEFER 58, was the wife of Louis J. GIEFER. The family moved, to Fairfield from Elpaso, Tex., two years ago. She is survived by the following children: Frank L. of Oskaloosa Iowa; Elizabeth PATTON of Fairfield; Katherine WHITE of San Benito, Tex.; Margaret WATERBURY, Minneapolis Minn.; Della MUSBURGER, Osceola Iowa; Fred H. GIEFER, San Benito, Tex., Robert L. Mollie W Rosella and Virginia at home. She also leaves three sisters and three brothers. One sister Mrs. Minnie KALLUSKY attended the services. Fifteen grandchildren and a host of near relatives and friends also survive. Two children, Edward J. and Dorotha preceded her in death.

The following tribute was paid Mrs. GIEFER by her children:

Whose love can equal the love of a Mother,
Whose devotion is so loyal and true,
Who suffered so much with such joy for another,
Who works with such pleasure as Mother for you?
You hail with delight the freindship of others,
You revel in love of the sweetheart you've won,
Yet where do you find a friendship like Mother's
Unknown until death calls and life's work is done.
