LEO L. GIBSON SUMMONED AT FORT MADISON

Funeral For Former Fairfield Man To Be Here Tomorrow Afternoon

FT. MADISON, April 1--Leo LaVern GIBSON, 40, died at his home here at 10:45 p.m. yesterday following a heart attack. He had been in poor health for several months, and had not been at his duties at the Ft. Madison Democrat office for the past week. He was a former resident of Fairfield and was employed at the Fairfield Daily Ledger office.

Mr. GIBSON was born Nov. 9, 1895 in Fairfield, and was the son of George W. GIBSON, who survives him. On Dec. 25, 1920 he married Miss Lela McCLEARY of Fairfield, and to the union two daughters were born, Marjorie Annabell 12, and Mary Alyce 9.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge, the I. O. O. F. the Typographical Union No. 60 in Ft. Madison, the Forst Madison Post No. 82 of the American Legion, and the Union Presbyterian church at Ft. Madison.

He had been employed at the Democrat office since 1924.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow in Fairfield, at the Hoskins funeral home at 3 p.m., in charge of Rev. W. L. Tourney of Ft. Madison. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body is now at the Hoskins Funeral home in Fairfield.

OBITUARY

LEO LAVERN GIBSON

Leo Lavern GIBSON was born in Fairfield, Iowa November 9, 1895, the son of George W. and Emma GILBERT GIBSON. When but five weeks old his mother passed away and he was reared by his aunt, Mrs. Mollie LIBLIN in Fairfield.

December 25, 1920 he was united in marriage to Miss Lela McCLEARY and this union was born two daughters, Marjorie Anabel and Mary Alyce.

Mr. GIBSON was employed as a linotype operator on the Fairfield Daily Ledger until 1924 when the family moved to Fort Madison where he was employed as linotype operator for the Evening Democrat for eleven years.

He passed away at his home 1511 Avenue F, Fort Madison at 10:45 o'clock Tuesday night, Mar. 31, after an illness of several months duration. Death was due to heart trouble. He had been failing over a period of ten days. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, his father W. GIBSON and a host of friends in both Fairfield and Fort Madison.

A veteran of the World War Mr. GIBSON was a member of Fort Madison Post No. 82 American Legion. Fraternally he was a member of the Masonic lodge at Fairfield and also of the Royal Arch Masons and O. E. S. No. 39, likewise of Fairfield. Also he was a member of Fort Madison Typographical Union, No. 581; of the Odd Fellows and of Union Presbyterian church in Fort Madison.

Funeral services were held at the Hoskins Funeral Home in this city, Thursday afternoon at 3:10 o'clock in charge of Rev. Walter L. Turney pastor of the Union Presbyterian church in Fort Madison. Miss Cora Ball, a former instructor, sang "In the Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Gilbert Voorhies. Mrs. Voorhies softly played Hymns during the services.

Interment was in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery.
