Viloma GAUMER Dies Suddenly

Viloma GAUMER, 68, native of Fairfield, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at Beulah's Beauty Shop located at 304 W. Broadway.

Last rites will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Miss GAUMER was engaged in the field of music throughout her entire life until her retirement in 1967.

Longtime Fairfield residents will remember when she was pianist at Fairfield theaters before the arrival of sound movies. She later went to Chicago and New York where she was employed by major organ firms.

She sold the first organ to Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus purchased by that firm for its tent performances.

Miss GAUMER was a sister of the late Wesley and Harvey GAUMER who owned and operated a drug store on the northwest corner of the square for many years.

Viloma GAUMER was born Feb. 25, 1904 in Fairfield, the daughter of James and Anna BALES GAUMER. She was reared and educated in Fairfield and graduated from the Fairfield High School in 1922.

After returning to Fairfield in 1967 she and her sister, Blanche, made their home at 201 W. Kirkwood. More recently they moved to the Fairfield Hotel.

Miss GAUMER is survived by her sister, Blanche, along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
