RichlandJeff E. PEDRICK, 67, of Richland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on May 12, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA), after many years of failing health and a recent lengthy hospital stay. He was born on May 19, 1955, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Allan Dean and Cheryl Rae MacKENZIE PEDRICK.
A graduate of Fairfield High School in 1973, Jeff continued his education at Indian Hills Community College. Jeff married Jeannie Kathryn HINSHAW on June 7, 1980, at Immanuel Lutheran Chirch in Fairfield, IA. His dedication to hard work and providing for his family was evident throughout his life, until his health didn't allow him to continue. In his early years, Jeff worked in Richland at the Farmers Coop and as a carpenter. The family then moved to Iowa City, where Jeff continued his work as a carpenter. Jeff and his family then moved to Dayton, Ohio, and later to Davidson, Michigan, where he managed paint cleaning facilities for several large companies. Eventually, Jeff and his wife, Jeannie, returned to Richland to be close to family, and he worked at Plexco and Dexter in Fairfield. Even in retirement, Jeff tried to continue to work in his declining health as a truck driver for local companies in the Richland area. Always eager to lend a helping hand until he had to fully retire early due to poor health.
Jeff's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeannie PEDRICK of Richland; his sons, Ryan PEDRICK (Erin) of Ollie and Jesse PEDRICK (Felicity) of Richland; his daughter, Ashley SINES (James) of Harper; his brother, Brian PEDRICK of North Liberty; his sister, Paula SHOLL (Jess) of Mt. Ayr; and his seven cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Collin, Brayden, Kysen, Avery, Jacob and Truett, two aunts Doris PEDRICK of Franklin, TN, and JoAnn MANG of Lake Stevens, WA; nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Cheryl; stepmother, Helen; in-laws, Kevin and Donna HINSHAW; sister-in-law, Julie PEDRICK; and a nephew, Michael COUNTRYMAN.
Jeff was a member of Prairie View Church and in later years he attended services at Wooson and Trinity Friends Church in Richland. He was a past member of the Friends Cemetery Board in Richland and a former Richland Lions Club member. His passion for the environment led him to join Trees Forever, and he was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. In his later years, Jeff offered advice and wisdom to those who sought his counsel. He was selfless, handy and thoughtful. Jeff enjoyed helping his neighbors by removing snow in the winter and helping as he was able. He enjoyed camping trips, traveling and spending time with his family and friends and in his early years hunting and fishing.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Jeff PEDRICK, let us remember the lessons he taught us through his actions and the love he shared with everyone who crossed his path. His legacy will live on through the lives of his family, friends and community members who were fortunate enough to know him. May we all strive to emulate the kindness and generosity that defined Jeff's life and may his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen.
