SANDRA LEE MURPHY
Fairfield

Sandra Lee MURPHY passed away peacefully at Vista Woods Care Facility in Ottumwa, Iowa, on May 19, 2023 (note: in Wapello Co., IA). Sandy was born January 26, 1937, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Delbert and Madge SINGLETON. She married her high school sweetheart, John F. MURPHY, on July 14, 1956. They were blessed with two daughters and two sons-in-law, Stephanie (David) WAGNER and Mary Ann (Nick) HAHN; five grandchildren, Jennifer WAGNER, Colin WAGNER, Erin (Aaron) HYDE, Heather (Andrew) RITTER and Cody HAHN; and five great-grandchildren, Elijah and Niko HAHN, Annie and Claire HYDE and Maisie RITTER. Sandy was a stay-at-home mom who loved spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids. She would always have special treats and homemade bread at the ready. Her macaroni and cheese was a favorite and was requested at every family function. She loved to challenge them in Pick-up Sticks, Chinese checkers and enjoying schooling them at the backyard basketball hoop playing Horse. One of her favorite family traditions was breakfast in the park. Sandy and John loved to travel, especially to Arizona to see the Cubs at Summer Camp.

Sandy was preceded in death by both parents, Delbert and Madge SINGLETON; son-in-law, Nicholas HAHN; her brother, Dean; and sister-in-law, Carol SINGLETON.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, IA with Father Nick Adam officiating.
