Charles Finley Whitham, 85, of 1945 Gear Ave., Fairfield died at 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at the Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to the Jefferson County 4-H Foundation or to the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Mr. Whitham was born May 17, 1920, at Fairfield, the son of Roy Rollo and Bertha May Mc Grew Whitham. He married Marjorie Lyons Dec. 30, 1943 at Memphis, Mo.

Mr. Whitham lived his entire life west of Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1938.

He was a farmer and had a livestock trucking business. He helped clerk at many sale barns in the area. He enjoyed playing cards, playing pool and going fishing.

Survivors include his wife; one son Robert R. Whitham and Patti of Madrid; one daughter, Laura K. Ruby and husband Bill of Redding, Calif; one sister, Lucille Kepford of Indianola; one brother, Frank Whitham of Fairfield; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by infant son, Richard Lee Whitham; his parents; two brothers, Theodore and Roll R. Whitham; and three sisters, Mae E. Ramsey, Hazel B. Whitham and Grace Whitham.
