Raymond "Cap" CREEK
August 22, 2005Raymond Edward "Cap" CREEK, 98, of Batavia, died at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Thomas Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6:30-8 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. CREEK was born Nov. 22, 1906, in Jefferson County, the son of Charles and Alice STUMP CREEK. He married Wilma FITE Aug. 29, 1926, in Libertyville. She died May 9, 1998.
Mr. CREEK was raised and educated in Eldon and Batavia, living most of his adult life in Batavia. He owned and operated Creek Oil Company in Batavia for more than 50 years.
Mr. CREEK was a member of First Church of the Open Bible in Ottumwa. He was on the Batavia School Board for 12 years, serving as board president for six years. He enjoyed visiting with family and gardening.
Survivors include one son, Robert CREEK and wife Shirley of Batavia; one daughter, Donna BOLING of Batavia; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raleigh, John and Van; one sister, Hazel FRESHWATER; one grandson; and one great-great-grandson.
