CAROL ANN MOTTET

Carol Ann MOTTET died on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in Washington, Iowa, at the age of 88, surrounded by her family. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and touched many people on her journey through life.

Carol was born in Harper, IA, on May 28, 1934, to Frank and Naomi (SMITH) WEBB and grew up on a farm with her two brothers--Jerry and Lyle. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's High School in Harper. After living and working in Des Moines for a short time, she returned to Eastern Iowa and married Duane (Joe) MOTTET on April 24, 1954. He died February 5, 2016.

Carol and Joe worked the family farm near Brighton, IA, raising four children. Carol was at her happiest when she was outside working as a farmer and when the Hawkeyes were winning. In addition to farming, Carol worked for a number of years at BJ's convenience store in Brighton and later as a park ranger at Lake Darling State Park. Carol provided consistent love and support to her four children and grandchildren instilling in them a set of values that will allow her influence to endure. She was proud of her Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, IA. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States as well spending time in Korea, Scotland and Australia. For ten years, she and Joe spent winters in Mission, TX, and was very proud to be an Iowa snowbird.

Carol is survived by four children, including Daniel (Barbara) MOTTET of Brighton, IA, Douglas (Jane) MOTTET of Kansas City, MO, Timothy MOTTET (Rick GONZALEZ) of Pueblo, CO, and Julie (Rob) JOHNSON of Washington, IA; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren; other surviving family members include sister-in-law, Judy WEBB of Oskaloosa, IA; and brother-in-law, Henry GODWIN of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two brothers.

Her life of devotion to her family, friends and community will be celebrated at a visitation on Saturday, October 22, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 1174 Reed Avenue in East Pleasant Plain, (Brighton) IA 52540. A funeral Mass and burial will be conducted following the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff of the Halcyon House in Washington, IA, who cared for Carol. She was most appreciative of the care she received and the friends she made.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Carol's honor to the Friends of Lake Darling and may be left at the church or mailed to Julie at 1999 300th Street, Washington, IA 52353. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
