Pearl GARDNER

Pearl GARDNER, 96, former Fairfield resident, died Monday evening, Feb. 21, 1994, at Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone (note: in Boone Co., IA).

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home.

Pearl M. GARDNER

The service for Pearl M. GARDNER, 96, formerly of Fairfield, who died at 7:25 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 1994, at Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is open at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to First Lutheran Church.

Mrs. GARDNER was born Sept. 22, 1897, in the New Sweden community in Jefferson County, the daughter of Charles Victor and Emma Christine JOHNSON LARSON. She was reared and educated in Jefferson County and attended business college in Fairfield. She marrie A.R. "Slim" GARDNER. She had worked at Dexter Co., Spurgeon's Department Store and as a telephone operator for United Telephone Co. in Fairfield. She also did baby-sitting for many families. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and lived most of her adult life in Fairfield until moving to Des Moines in 1988. She moved to Boone four years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Rose ABBEY of Boone, Bobbie LAWSON of Johnston; two sons, Jim of Iowa City, Jerry of Ames; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Nine brothers and sisters and two granddaughters preceded her in death.
