MRS. J. S. GANTZ DIED YESTERDAY
Life Long Resident of Jefferson Co. Succumbs to Many Months of Suffering.

Mrs. Jacob S. GANTZ died yesterday morning at 7 o'clock at her home 204 North Third street after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from the home in charge of Dr. G. W. Poole. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.

Margaret C. VANCE was born in this county November 5, 1845. She was the daughter of George W. and Elizabeth VANCE. On September 1867, she was married to Hency (sic - Henry C.) ROCK who died April 5, 1880. On November 1882 she was re-married to Jacob S. GANTZ who died on February 19, 1922. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. C. Y. SMITH of Ottumwa, Mrs. Lon ISRAEL of this city and Mrs. E. R. MORRISON (sic - MORRISEY) of Kansas City, and four step children, Dr. B. N. GANTZ of this city, Mrs. S. P. ANDERSON of Fresno, Ernest GANTZ of Long Beach and James G. GANTZ of Seattle. There are also eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca CHILCOTT and Mary H. TEETER and one brother M. F. VANCE.

Mrs. GANTZ was a life long resident of Jefferson county and was a charter member of the Women's Relief Corps, of the Fairfield lodge No. 96 and was for two years department chaplain.

Besides raising her own children she raised her grand-daughter Mrs. Don McGREGGOR.

State of Iowa, Jefferson county, ss.

To All Whom It May concern:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Margaret C. GANTZ, deceased, is now on file in the office of the clerk fo the District Court of Jefferson county, and that Wednesday, August 20th, A. D. 1924, at 9:00 o'clock a.m., it being in vacation, of said court, has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court this 23rd day of July, 1924.
