LOCAL WOMAN DIES SUDDENLY

A Fairfield woman made her usual shopping trip to town yesterday afternoon, then returned home and toppled over dead on her kitchen floor, the victim of a cerebral hemorrhage.

She is Ida Mae GANTZ, 304 West Washington street, who had been a resident of Fairfield for the past 35 years.

Coroner Jack Raymond said he estimated the time of her death at about 2:00 p.m. The body was found by Mrs. Joe Rozenbaum, a neighbor who found the back door partly open as she made a neighborly call at the GANTZ home.

Mrs. Rozenbaum went on in the house and found Miss GANTZ on the floor with the basket full of groceries near her. She had just returned from town where she had completed her shopping. Miss GANTZ had been in her usual health before her sudden and fatal illness.

Ida Mae GANTZ, 82, was born May 7, 1868, in Blackhawk township nine miles northwest of Fairfield. She was the daughter of Levi and Sarah PAUL GANTZ, former well known residents of the county.

Ida Mae GANTZ never married, and for a number of years made her home in Fairfield. Her home is at 304 West Washington, but she had been living in her sister's home next door, 302 West Washington street, for the past several months. She was living at that address at the time of her death.

Last rites will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Miss GANTZ, a member of the D. A. R. is survived by the following nieces and nephews; Mrs. E. R. BONNETT, Mrs. Marie GRAUEL and Glen GANTZ, all of Fairfield; and J. E. HEWITT, Hopkinton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. S. A. COPELAND, Effie GANTZ, John GANTZ, Mrs. E. J. HEWITT, Ella GANTZ, and two infant brothers, James and William.
