Effie E. GANTZ, 72, well-known resident of the community, died suddenly this morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Sam COPELAND, 202 W. Washington street. Her death came at 10:30 a.m. after an illness of three weeks.
Miss GANTZ was moved from her home, 204 W. Washington street, to the home of her sister and brother-in-law last Monday.
She was born August 12, 1874, in Jefferson county, the daughter of the late Levi and Sarah PAUL GANTZ. She moved to Fairfield in 1901 from the family home in Blackhawk township. Miss GANTZ was a member of the Christian church, local chapter of the D.A.R. and the Rebekahs.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. COPELAND and Miss Mae GANTZ, both of Fairfield; two nephews, two nieces, and two grand nephews and grand nieces.
The body was taken to the Hoskins funeral home where last rites are pending.

Last rites for Effie GANTZ, longtime resident of Fairfield, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home. Rev. S. P. Williamson will be in charge and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Miss GANTZ passed away suddenly at the home of her sister Friday morning after an illness of three weeks.

... Immediately following the D.A.R. ritual the chaplain, Mrs. Ross Anderson, conducted a memorial service for the recently departed members, Mrs. S. K. Davis, Mrs. J. R. Gilchrist and Effie GANTZ.
At the business meeting presided over by the regent, Iva Scheffel, a nominating committee for the election of officers was elected consisting of Mrs. Arthur Hope, Ruby Garnett and Mrs. J. N. Calhoun. Minnie B. Jenks was appointed by the board to finish out the unexpired term of Effie GANTZ as treasurer of the chapter. ...
