Mabel Minarsich
August 11, 2005Mabel Janet Minarsich, 84, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at the Henry County Health Center.
The funeral is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trenton Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kent Leydens officiating. Burial will be in the Green Mound Cemetery.
Visitation will began at noon today, with the family present from 6-8 p.m., at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trenton Methodist Church or given to an organization or charity of the donor's choice in Mrs. Minarsich's honor.
Mrs. Minarsich was born Sept. 20, 1920, in rural Van Buren County, the daughter of John and Bessie Leydens. She married Charles "Chuck" A. Minarsich, Feb. 2, 1954.
She received her education in Van Buren schools and then moved to Mount Pleasant with her family.
Near the beginning of World War II, Mrs. Minarsich moved to Michigan where she lived for a couple of years. She later returned to Mount Pleasant where she owned and operated a beauty shop. After the war, she moved to Rock Island, Ill. The Minarsiches moved to Mount Pleasant in 1976.
Mrs. Minarsich was a member of Trenton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed cross stitching, cooking, entertaining, playing cards, and spending time with family. She also loved wildlife and fed wild birds, rescued stray animals and always had a dog.
Survivors include her husband of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Leroy Leydens of Mount Pleasant; four sisters, Ann Jeambey of Des Moines, Patti Messer of Stockport, Dorothy Garmoe of Mount Pleasant, and Betty Harper of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
