Marvin Harper Curtis, 66, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in rural Brighton.

Friends may sign the register beginning Monday at Behner Funeral Home.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the Marvin Curtis Memorial.

Mr. Curtis was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Piqua, Ohio, the son of Glen and Lear Harper.

Mr. Curtis enjoyed college and high school sports, and was always quick to encourage young people.

Survivors include one sister, Uva Myers of Dayton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
