August 05, 2005Linda Marie Hickenbottom Kenney, 56, of Fairfield and formerly of Marion, Iowa, died at 3 a.m. today, Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Linda was born May 26, 1949, in Fairfield. She is the daughter of Hugh Lyle and Betty Marie Harrison Hickenbottom.
She grew up in the Fairfield community, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1967. She received her Med-tech degree from Southeastern Community College at Burlington.
Linda worked in the lab at Jefferson County Hospital and Burlington Medical Center. She worked in the medical research lab at the V.A. Hospital for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Linda worked in sales with Mary Kay Cosmetics, attaining the position of Future National Sales Director.
Linda married Gary Gene Kenney on January 1, 1982, at Cedar Rapids, where they lived for several years before moving to Bonaparte and Fairfield. Linda was a homemaker and she worked with her husband at their business Roto Fab at Libertyville.
Linda was a member of Harmony Bible Church near Danville and was very active in their church, and lead worship and Bible study groups. She also was a leader in several Christian women activities, plus many community groups and the Republican Party.
Surviving family include her husband of 23 years Gary Kenney; daughters, Tiffany and her husband Kelly Cass of Fairfield, Michelle and her husband Ron Luckner of Olathe, Kan.; grandchildren, Katelyn and Robyn Luckner; her parents, Hugh and Betty Hickenbottom of Fairfield; two brothers, Steve Hickenbottom and wife Roxanne, and Mark Hickenbottom and wife Kerry, all of Fairfield; her nieces and nephews, Mandie Hickenbottom, Michaela Hickenbottom, Whitney Hickenbottom, Corey Hickenbottom, Jessica Hickenbottom and Joshua Hickenbottom; plus her grandmother, Golda Marie Miller of Ottumwa.
The family requests no flowers. They wish that memorial gifts be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Harmony Bible Church, south of Danville, with Pastor Wes Haddaway and Pastor Mark Caston officiating. A lunch at the church will follow the service.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
