Shirley Rosann Stokes, 57, of 1021 Grand Park Drive in Fairfield, passed away at 4:15 a.m. today, Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The funeral service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Kurt Makower and the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. At the family's request, the casket will be closed. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home.

Shirley was born Aug. 31, 1947, the daughter of Beulah and Wilmer Lauderman. She married Danny Johnston in 1964. Following their divorce, Shirley married Rich Stokes Nov. 14, 1981, in First Christian Church in Fairfield.

Shirley was an instructor at the Athena Academy of Beauty Culture. She was most recently working at the Hair Cellar.

Shirley loved gardening, cooking and animals.

Survivors include husband, Rich Stokes of Fairfield; her mother, Beulah Lauderman of Washington, Iowa; brother, Larry Lauderman of Pleasant Plain; children, Neil Johnston and wife Jill of Des Moines, Denise Greiner and husband Jim of Fairfield, and Laurie Stokes of Fairfield; and six grandchildren.

Shirley's infant son and her father preceded her in death.
