Emma Mabel Wolcott, 92, of Richland, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital following a short illness.

The funeral is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Richland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kim Gates officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland. Family will be present from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Richland United Methodist Church or Richland Volunteer Fire Department.

Mrs. Wolcott was born Oct. 5, 1932, in rural Packwood, the daughter of Austin and Emma Paxson Sasseen. She married Cedric Wolcott May 16, 1935, in Oskaloosa. He died Sept. 14, 1988.

She graduated from Packwood High School in 1931. She attended Parsons College and received her teaching certificate and taught school before her marriage.

Mrs. Wolcott was a longtime member of Richland United Methodist Church and an active member of United Methodist Women for many years. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and several area clubs. She volunteered with the VA Hospital in Iowa City for 27 years.

Survivors include one son, Jim Wolcott and wife Mary of Richland; one daughter, Karen Greiner and husband Myron of Richland; one brother, Dale Sasseen of Richland; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vera Huber and Margaret Roberts; two brothers, Houston Sasseen and Bill Sasseen; and one granddaughter.
