Doyle Eugene Heston
August 01, 2005Doyle Eugene Heston, 70, of Palestine, Texas, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 29, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Fairfield Friends Church with the Reverends Dave Elmore and Todd Follette officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Behner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent via www.behnerfh.com.
Family visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 2, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be directed to the Libertyville Little League.
Mr. Heston was born June 29, 1935 on the family farm south of Fairfield. He was the youngest of three sons born to William and Laura Anderson Heston. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1953. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While stationed in San Antonio, TX, he met Sue Prestidge and they were married in Montalba, TX on August 10, 1958.
Doyle and Sue made their home five miles south of Fairfield, where they farmed and raised four children. Doyle also worked as a machinist at Fairfield Engineering, ILECO, and Meritor. They moved into the city of Fairfield in the summer of 1988 before retiring to Palestine, TX in 2004.
He was an active member of Fairfield Friends Church, serving in numerous capacities. Currently he attended The Evangelistic Temple in Palestine, TX.
In his spare time, Doyle coached little league baseball and enjoyed volunteering and helping those in need. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, but his greatest joy was attending his grandchildren's activities.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Sue Heston; daughter, Sherri and Bob McReynolds of Fairfield; three sons, Phillip and Cathy Heston of Whitefish Bay, WI, Mark and Jill Heston of Ankeny, IA, and Matthew and Tammy Heston of Knoxville, IA; seven grandchildren, Josh and Stacey McReynolds of Clarence, IA, Adam McReynolds of Ames, IA, Carter Heston of Whitefish Bay, WI, Ely, Abigail and Alexandra Heston of Ankeny, IA and Connor Heston of Knoxville, IA; and one great grandson, Ethan McReynolds of Clarence, IA.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Kenneth and Richard.
