Passed Peacefully Away.

Mrs. Joseph W. FULTON, whose home is a mile west of the city, died in her chair Monday evening, while surrounded by her family. About 9:15 she remarked that it was growing late and made an effort to lay on a table nearby some work which was in her hands. Her head fell upon the shoulder of a son who was sitting beside her, she gave a gasp or two and was dead. Mrs. FULTON had been more or less of an invalid for many years. Recently, however, her health had seemed much better, and there were no premonitory symptoms or indications of aproaching death whatsoever. Sarah E. MINEAR was born in Ross county, O., July, 14th, 1838. She grew to womanhood there, and March 9th, 1858, was married to Joseph W. FULTON. They came to the home of the husband in Iowa at once and have resided here continuously since, in town or country. Six children were born to them, five of whom are now living--Charles J., William A., Pearl R., and Eliza FULTON of this county, and Dr. Albert M. FULTON of Chariton. Mrs. FULTON had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since early childhood. She was a woman of intelligence and refinement, loyal to her friends and devoted to her family. In town and country she had many friends who were shocked at her sudden death and who will sincerely mourn her loss and sorrow with the stricken husband and children. Funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. I. O. Kemble. The remains will be buried in the Evergreen cemetery.

THE HAND OF DEATH
Deals Out Its Full Measure of Sorrow This Week.

Four Aged and Respected Residents of Jefferson County Respond to Death's Summons.

Death of Mrs. Jos. W. FULTON

At 9:25 o'clock New Years night Mrs. Jos. W. FULTEN (sic) died at her home, one mile west of this city. Deceased had reached the mature age of sixty-one years, five months and fourteen days.

Funeral services will occur tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock from the home, to be conducted by Rev. J. O. Kemble of the M. E. church, and interment will follow in the Evergreen cemetery.

Sarah Elizabeth MINEAR was born in Chillicothe, Ross county, Ohio, July 14, 1838, and was married to Jos. W. FULTON March 9th, 1858. Seven children were born to the Union--Robert M., who died in infancy, C. J. FULTON, member of the Louden Machinery Co. of this city, W. A. FULTON of Libertyville, P. L. of Selma, Dr. A. M. of Chariton, and Joseph W., Jr. and Eliza FULTON who are living at the family home. Mr. and Mrs. FULTON have resided in Jefferson county for many years, being counted among our early settlers, and have occupied the present homestead for the past ten years.

Deceased was one of nature's noblewomen, the queen of an exemplary Christian home. Large-hearted, most kindly dispositioned, with a word of counsel and encouragement for all, she was a power for good, not only in her immediate family circle, but with all with whom she chanced to come in contact. Mrs. FULTON is no more, but her memory lives, her noble character is perpetuated in her descendants and her good works will bear fruit in time yet to come. The world has been made better by her life--her mission on earth is fulfilled and she has passed on to the realms Eternal to receive the reward of the just. She was a member of the M. E. church and up to the time of her demise adhered to and practiced the principles of that religious creed.
