Colonel FULTON Dies In Texas

Colonel Robert L. FULTON, 79, retired U.S. Army officer, died Thursday at his winter home in Mercedes, Texas. Death was caused by a heart attack.

Since his retirement, Col. FULTON had resided on a farm near Selma in southwest Jefferson County.

The body is being returned to the Raymond Funeral Home. Arrangements are pending.

FULTON Services Will Be Tuesday

Funeral services for Col. Robert L. FULTON, Selma, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church at Fairfield with the Rev. E. A. Piper and the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Raymond Funeral Home.

Col. FULTON died Thursday at his winter home in Mercedes, Texas, following a heart attack.

Robert L. FULTON, 79, was born Dec. 18, 1888, in Jefferson County, the son of Pearl L. and Edith SNOOK FULTON. He was reared and educated in Jefferson County and Fairfield Schools.

He was married to Maude L. LEWIS on Aug. 12, 1908. She passed away Feb. 5, 1959. He was married to Ruby COMPTON on Aug. 6, 1960, who survives.

Col. FULTON was a member of the Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge and I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 4. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1947 with the rank of colonel.

In addition to his wife, Col. FULTON is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Glen TOWERS, Des Moines; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Other survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Ernest ROHRER, Fairfield; Mrs. James CAMPBELL, Des Moines; Mrs. Leslie DAGGETT, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Kenneth EDWARDS, Mercedes, Texas, Mrs. Maynard PARSONS, Binghampton, N.Y,.; also four brothers, Harry L. FULTON, Arthur P. FULTON and Fred C. FULTON, all of Selma; and W. Wayne FULTON, Altoona; and a step-son, Lt. Gen. Keith COMPTON, Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha.
